In MG600 type two models are for monitoring motors in intermittent service and three models monitor small energized power systems, to provide early warning of insulation deterioration, alarming when insulation resistance has fallen to the low megohm range. Under these conditions, the dielectric strength is low.
Early warning enables scheduling preventive maintenance when convenient, to maintain ships in a constant state of readiness for service by eliminating motor insulation failure caused by adverse environmental conditions.
Continuous monitoring of small power system minimizes labour requirements to maintain them in good order.
Alarm level switching, using the faceplate-mounted switch, simplifies maintenance scheduling by tracking the insulation decay rate.
Motor monitoring to eliminate failures on starting begins automatically whenever they are de-energized and continues until the motor is re-energized.
"Intermittent service" includes multiple "ON/OFF" applications (e.g.. compressors, elevators), single/double shift continuous operation (e.g.. fans, bilge pumps), annual shut-downs, etc.
All models for motor monitoring incorporate a time delay to permit the dissipation of residual charge before the alarm function will operate after the motor is de-energized.
The Small Power System monitors operate continuously whilst the power system is energized, replacing the traditional voltmeter/phase switch ground detection system and eliminating its labor intensive operation.
They offer the same preventative maintenance conveniences and insulating decay tracking features as the motor monitors.
